Richard D. Landis, 81, of Marion, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at 3:55 p.m. in Marion.

Mr. Landis had been employed as a painter at General Motors. He was involved in the ministry as a Jehovah's Witness. He had lived in Grant County since 1990.

He was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Wabash to Eldon and Esther Tyner Landis. He married Carolyn J. Dyson on Jan. 20, 1950; she preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 1990.He married Barbara Townsend on Oct. 3, 1992; she survives.

Additional survivors include three daughters, Joyce (Billy) Dials, of Huntington; Sally (Chris) Callaghan, of Chili; and Joan (Ron) Palmieri, of Clovis, CA; three sons, Jerry (Rose) Landis, of Gas City; Daniel (Cindy) Landis, of Wabash; and Gary (Jane) Townsend, of Groveland, CA; three sisters, Phyllis Hawkins, Martha Comerford and Elizabeth Surby; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A service was held Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, with Doug Temple officiating.
