Ernestine Cox, 78, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at 2:15 a.m. at The Heritage of Huntington.
Mrs. Cox, a former resident of Ogan Avenue, moved to The Heritage in 2007. She was a member of New Hope United Brethren Church and had worked in home health care for eight years.
She was born July 1, 1931, in Kirby, AR, to Levi C. and Viola L. Foshee Thrash. She married Glen L. Cox on Nov. 21, 1948, in Glenwood AR. Her husband preceded her in death on April 13, 1988.
Survivors include a son, Don D. (Janet) Cox, of Huntington; a daughter, Glenda L. (J. Michael) Stephens, of Millersburg, OH; a brother, Troy Thrash, of Glenwood, AR; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Calling is Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A service will be held Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at New Hope United Brethren Church, 2001 Engle St., Huntington. Dr. Ray Seilhamer, Rev. Lynn Mefferd and Rev. Russell Birdsall will officiate. Interment will be at Gardens of memory Cemetery, Huntington County.
