Wallace D. Boyd, 80, formerly of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at 8:35 p.m. at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

Mr. Boyd graduated from Huntington High School in 1947. He later joined the United States Army, serving in the Korean War as a corporal. He retired from the Huntington Post Office on Aug. 1, 1985, after 28 years. He was a member of the former St. Peter's First United Church of Christ in Huntington.

He was born Dec. 29, 1929, in Huntington to Eldon and Mary Helen Lee Boyd. He married Betty Morris on Dec. 30, 1951, in Huntington. She preceded him in death on July 4, 1987.

Surviving are a son, Mark D. (Kimberly) Boyd, of Huntington; two daughters, Penny (Duane) Sunderman and Amy (James) Johnson, both of Huntington; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington,  with Rev. Ray Scribner officiating. Burial was in the Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.

Military graveside rites were performed by the V.F.W. Post 2689. Jerry Walling and Jerry Helms were the flag detail. Honor guard was composed of Mike Smith, Dave Rinehart, Carl Smith, zuch Ashbaugh and Leslie Ackerman. Wayne Ashbaugh did the cannon and "Taps.'

Pallbearers were Jarrod Sunderman, Joseph Sunderman, Stephanie Boyd, Alicia Johnson, Jeremy Johnson and Nathan Boyd.
