John C. Wrestler Sr.

John C. Wrestler Sr., 94, of rural Montpelier, IN, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at 1:40 p.m. at Heritage Pointe, in Warren, IN.

Mr. Wrestler graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1942. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a submariner on the USS Hawkbill during World War II. He farmed for many years. He worked in the tool crib at GripCo for 20 years, retiring in 1991, and had previously worked at 3M. He was a member of the Submarine Club, in Indianapolis, and the First Baptist Church, in Montpelier.

He was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Blackford County to John A. and Mabel Wentz Wrestler. He married Kathryn Risinger on Nov. 11, 1950, at the First Baptist Church, in Montpelier. She preceded him in death on Aug. 27, 2012.

Survivors include a son, J. Charles (Jan) Wrestler Jr., of rural Montpelier; two daughters, Anne (Gary) Boone, of Hartford City, and Linda Jane (Ron Wielage) Wrestler, of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, David (Bonnie) Boone, of Paradise, CA; Keith Boone, of Fiat; Carol (John) Felger, of Keystone; Jennifer (Matt) Roush, of Marion; and Jeremiah Wrestler, of San Francisco, CA; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Calling is Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home, 308 W. Washington St., Bluffton. A service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at the First Baptist Church, 113 E. Huntington St., Montpelier. Rev. Jeremy Cowin and Gerald Moreland will officiate. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, in Montpelier.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum or the First Baptist Church.
