Albert LeRoy Johnson, 93, of Huntington, IN, and formerly of Florida for many years, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at Parkview Huntington Hospital, Huntington, IN.
Mr. Johnson was a 1940 graduate of Huntington High School. He was member of the United States Army and served during World War II. Mr. Johnson was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a printer and worked for the federal government, Herald-Press, Journal-Gazette, Our Sunday Visitor and the Tampa Tribune. He was a 50-year member of the Masons, a 50-year member of VFW Post 2689 and a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 7.
He was born April 7, 1922, in Huntington to Ferd and Mildred Olinger Johnson. He married Phyllis Nadeen Smith on June 7, 1942, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 2001.
Survivors include two sons, Ted (Ann) Johnson, of Huntington, and Mark Johnson, of Florida; a daughter, Anna Johnson, of Florida; and eight grandchildren, Jeremy (Alexa) Johnson and Jason (Candace) Johnson, both of Huntington; and Shannon Johnson, Jody Johnson, Jeff Johnson, LeeAnn Johnson, Josh Johnson and Saralynn Johnson, all of Florida; and nine great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling or services. Burial will be at Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington.
