Carol A. Laurie

Carol Ann Laurie, 79, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at 5 a.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor, in Huntington.

Mrs. Laurie graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1954 and from the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She was a registered nurse, working in the surgery department of Huntington Memorial Hospital in the 1960s and as a school nurse for the Huntington County Community School Corporation from 1968 to 1980. She worked as an in-service director at Miller’s Merry Manor from 1980 to 1990 and had also worked at the Rehabilitation Hospital, in Fort Wayne.

She was born June 30, 1936, in Huntington to Edward Samuel and Gladys Lucille Nowels Solloway. She married Ronald John Laurie on Oct. 18, 1957, in Huntington, and he preceded her in death on March 23, 1997.

Survivors include two daughters, Tina (Douglas) Fisher and Jill (Steve Faurote) Bruce, both of Huntington; a son, Nicholas J. Laurie, of Huntington; a brother, Max Solloway, of Huntington; seven grandchildren, Mark Fisher, Luke Fisher, Justin Laurie, Jina (Jeremy) Doyle, Lisa (Jason) Jackson, Beth Bruce and Mindi (Nick) Gressley; and eight great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington. A service will be held at the mortuary on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Richard Frederick will officiate. Those unable to attend may view the service on the Bailey-Love Mortuary channel at www.livestream.com. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County.
