Roger V. Johnson, 75, of Plainfield, IL, and a former National Guard commander in Huntington, died Wednesday, Jan 27, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Johnson was retired from Zee Medical Service, where he worked as a sales representative. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was commander of National Guard units in Huntington and Hartford City. He was a member of Grace Community Church.
He was born Nov 22, 1934, in New London, IA, to Virgil and Cora Miller Johnson. He married Peggy Marie Ross on Dec. 26, 1952. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, David R. (Tiffany) Johnson, of Nyona Lake, and Brian G. Johnson, of Plainfield, IL; two brothers, Jack (Pat) Johnson, of Florida, and Darrell (Marsha) Johnson, of South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Adam Wyatt, Ashley Wyatt, Allison Wyatt, Amy Reed, Jason Johnson, Jordan Reed, Adrianna Bustos Johnson; and eight great-grandchildren.
A service was held Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, Marion, with Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial was at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
Preferred memorials are gifts to Joliet Hospice, Joliet, IL.
