Wilda Gay Cox, 85, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at 12:15 p.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Cox graduated from Big Creek High School in War, WV, in 1942 and had lived in Huntington since 1961. She retired from Lime City Trucking Company in 1982 after 20 years of service as a billing clerk. She also volunteered for 20 years at Parkview Huntington Hospital, contributing more than 12,000 of service. She was a member of St. Peter's First Community Church and the Parkview Huntington Hospital Guild.

She was born Aug. 29, 1924 in Berwind, WV, to George Pearly and Bessie Mae West Rane. She married Bill A. Cox on Feb. 3, 1947, in Pikeville, KY. Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 1987.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Pete) McCoart and Susan (Lyle) Smith, both of Huntington; a son, Leon Cox, of Huntington; a sister, Willetta Rane-Farmer, of Bluefield, WV; three grandchildren, Sonya (Rusty) Foraker and Shane (Breann) McCoart, both of Huntington, and Sherie (Brian) Hughes, of Detroit, MI; and a great-grandchild.

Calling is Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A service will be held at the mortuary on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Ray Scribner officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County.
