Oscar Stevenson, 72, of Elwood, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care Center in Marion.

Mr. Stevenson was a production worker at Thompson Consumer Electronics for 34 years and had also worked at General Tire. He was a member of the Elwood Baptist Church. He served in the United States Navy and the National Guard.

He was born Sept. 25, 1937, in Vanceburg, KY, to William McKinley and Myrtle McGlothin Stevenson.

Survivors include two daughters, Cora Stevenson, of Marion, and Brenda (Ron) Silvey, of Elwood; two sons, Oscar L. (Tina) Stevenson, of Fairmount, and William (Rhonda) Stevenson, of Navarre, FL; 12 grandchildren, Kenisha Jones, Heather Hopkins, Brian Hopkins and Tonya Silvey, all of Marion; Brandon Walker and Troy Walker, both of Huntington; Jimmy Stevenson, of Muncie; Justin Silvey and Nicole Silvey, both of Elwood; Vanessa Silvey, of Wabash; and Amanda Stevenson and Ashley Stevenson, both of Navarre, FL; and nine great-grandchildren.

Calling will be Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Armes-Hunt Funeal Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount. A service will be held Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.

Preferred memorials are gifts to the Disabled Veterans in care of the funeral home.
