James M. Wertenberger

James M. Wertenberger, 81, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at 9:20 a.m. at his home.

Mr. Wertenberger graduated from Richmond High School in 1952 and from Indiana University in 1956, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. In 1964, he founded Wertenberger Tire in Huntington, where he worked for over 50 years. He was involved in various civic boards, committees and organizations serving the community of Huntington and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

He was born May 11, 1934, in Jackson, MI, to Morris and Florence Pangborn Wertenberger. He married Jean W. Wildermuth on June 16, 1956. She preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 2011.

Survivors include a son, Jeff (Denise) Wertenberger, of Huntington; a daughter , Judy Wertenberger, of Fort Wayne; a brother, Tom Wertenberger, of Denver, CO; and two grandchildren, Eric Wertenberger, of Los Angeles, CA and Lindsey Wertenberger, of Arlington, VA.

Calling is Friday, May 6, 2016, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the mortuary, with one hour of calling prior to the service. Rev. Nancy Rosinski will officiate. Entombment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
