Dwight W. Glessner, 82, of Montpelier, and having family members in Huntington, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at 11:18 a.m. at his home.
Mr. Glessner retired from the military after 20 years of service in the United States Army, Air Force and Merchant Marines. He attended Chester Center School, Wells County. He was a member of Millard-Brown American Legion Post 156, Montpelier Lions Club, Blackford County 4-H and the Montpelier Pony and Saddle Club. He was a member of Grace Community Church, Montpelier.
He was born Aug. 6, 1927, in Wells County to Paul and Faye Dawson Glessner. He married Lois Joan (Joey) Fauerbach on June 3, 1953, in Madison, WI. His wife preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra D. (Neil) King, of Montpelier; three sons, Bradley D. (Jan) Glessner, of Tavares, FL; William P. "Bill" (Teri) Glessner, of Marion; Stephen E. (Leslie) Glessner, of Ocala, FL; four brothers, Ralph A. (Shirley) Glessner, of Montpelier; Jesse Glessner, of Hartford City; John (Rose) Glessner, of Greenville, OH; and Robert "Bob" (Patty) Glessner, of Huntington; and 10 grandchildren.
Calling is Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a memorial service by the Montpelier Lions Club at 7 p.m., at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with Dr. Richard Ingram and Rev. Dave Dopson officiating. Interment, with military rites, will be at Asbury Cemetery, Wells County.
