Ola Marie Cornett, 85, of Columbia City, and a former resident of Roanoke, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at 10 p.m. at her home.
Mrs. Cornett was a homemaker and was a member of Locust Grove Church of Christ in Keavy, KY. She had lived in Keavy, KY, until moving to Roanoke in 1980. She had lived in Columbia City since 1991.
She was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Corbin, KY, to Delbert and Bessie Catherine Cornn Reynolds. She married John "J.B." Cornett in September, 1946, in Corbin, KY. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Bill (Kathi) Cornett, of Lilburn, GA; three daughters, Betty Lou Slucher, of Columbia City; Linda S. (Gerald) LaRue, of Rainbow City, AL; and Lora Ann (David) Elliott, of Hartselle, AL; a sister, Ella (Earl) Gunkel, of Talor Mill, KY; two brothers, Charles O. (Rose) Reynolds, of Loveland, OH, and James (Janice) Reynolds, of Milford, OH; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A service was held Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Billy Parson of the Freewill Baptist Church officiated. Burial was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven.
Preferred memorials are gifts to Parkview Whitley Hospital in care of the funeral home.
