Jean E. Rice

Jean E. Rice, 89, of Warren, IN, died Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Heritage Pointe, in Warren.

Mrs. Rice was a 1944 graduate of Huntington High School. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Huntington Memorial Hospital for 17 years and worked as a surgical aide for Dr. William Fritch while living in Florida. She was a long-time resident of Huntington but had lived in Florida for 25 years before moving back to Indiana in 2000.

She was active at Evangelical United Brethren Church, now the Evangelical United Methodist Church, in Huntington, and worked in children’s ministries and missionary society. She was a member of Venice Bible Church, in Venice, FL, and volunteered at Bon Secours Venice Hospital, in Florida.

She was born Aug. 8, 1926, in Zanesville to Clarice and Naomi Caley Redding. She married Harry W. Rice on Dec. 30, 1945, in Huntington, and he survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Judith A. (Wayne) Randall, of Huntington, and Debra S. (Peter) Deal, of Midland, MI; seven grandchildren, Laurie (Andrew) McNeil, Lisa (Jeff) Mohler, Patti Randall, Kim McCaslin, Christel (Dave) Mulder, Adam Deal and Rebekah Deal; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, May 13, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a service following at 11 a.m., in Applegate Chapel at Heritage Pointe, 801 Huntington Ave., Warren.
