Phillip C. Freiburger, 87, of Yoder, IN, and having family in Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at 10:08 a.m. at Bluffton Regional Medical Center, Bluffton.
Mr. Freiburger was a lifelong farmer in Lafayette Township, Allen County. He also worked for General Electric as a wire enameler for over 44 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke and the Roanoke American Legion Post 160. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II.
He was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Yoder to Ambrose and Veronica Harber Freiburger. He married Evelyn Ludwig on May 31, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntington. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2007.
Survivors include two sons, Von P. (Joyce) Freiburger, of Roanoke, and Douglas P. (Cici) Freiburger, of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Marie (David) Carmean, of Yoder, and Janet E. (Robert) Martin, of Roanoke; two brothers, Edgar (Opal) Freiburger, of Ossian, and Quentin (Rosemary) Freiburger, of Yoder; a sister, Myrtle Dinger, of Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Calling is Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35. Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 641 N. Main St., Roanoke, with Rev. Ken Sarrazine officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
