Kathleen 'Kit' Garber

Kathleen “Kit” Garber, 89, of Fort Wayne, IN, and a native of Huntington County, IN, died Monday, May 23, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Garber retired in 1993 as a registered nurse after 50 years of service, having spent most of her years at St. Joseph Hospital. She was a Cadet Nurse after the end of World War II. She was a founding member of St. Therese Catholic Church.

She was born Dec. 24, 1926, in Huntington County to William and Elizabeth Scher Landrigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Garber.

Survivors include three sons, Jim (Sue) Garber, of Carmel; David (Beth) Garber, of York, SC; and Steven Garber, of Fort Wayne; four daughters, Peggy Garber, of Fort Wayne; Jeanine (Mike) Moyer, of Roanoke; Sharon (Don) Haggenjos, of Camby; and Carol Sue Garber, of Stevensville, MD; two brothers, Pat (Susan) Landrigan, of Fort Wayne, and Bill Landrigan, of Warsaw; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, May 27, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7 p.m., at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, Fort Wayne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to Mass, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Rd., Fort Wayne. Rev. Lawrence Teteh will officiate.
