Lucas Grube

Lucas Grube, 14, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Riley Children’s Hospital, Indianapolis.

Lucas recently completed eighth grade at Crestview Middle School with high academic honors and was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. While at Crestview, he was active in football, wrestling, band and track. He was a member of the Academic Super Bowl team and was named Kiwanis Boy of the Year. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Boy Scout Troop 135.

He was preparing to attend Culver Military Academy, in Culver, in the fall of 2016. He was a finalist for the Batten Scholarship to attend the academy.

He was born April 6, 2002, in Huntington to Shiloh and Angela Mullins Grube. His parents survive in Huntington.

Additional survivors include a brother, Matthew Grube, and a sister, Abby Grube, both at home; maternal grandmother, Sandra Mullins, of Huntington; stepgrandmother, Patti Mullins, of Huntington; and paternal grandparents, Arden and Pam Grube, of Huntington.

Calling is Sunday, June 12, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington. A service will be held on Monday, June 13, 2016, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Life Church, 900 E. State St., Huntington. Rev. Mike Hill will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington.
