Evangeline “Van” Boren, 95, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, June 26, 2016, at 4:56 a.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Mrs. Boren had worked at the General Electric plant on Broadway in Fort Wayne for more than 20 years, retiring in 1980. She had also worked at Farnsworth Electric, in Fort Wayne; Coil Engineering, in Markle; and Model Engineering, in Huntington. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689 Auxiliary, in Huntington, and the Elex Club, in Fort Wayne.
She was born Sept. 23, 1920, in Wells County to Ivan and Lucille Harshner Ormsby. She married Wayne Colpetzer on June 26, 1937, in New Castle, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1944. She married Charles Boren in June of 1968 in Huntington, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 1992.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ramsey, of Fort Wayne; a brother, Duff Ormsby, of Markle; a sister, Bonnie Story, of Bristol; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Calling is Friday, July 1, 2016, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, in Huntington. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, in Servia.
