Margaret M. 'Peg' Karst

Margaret Mary “Peg” Karst, 91, of Fort Wayne, IN, a native of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at 10:30 p.m. at Saint Anne Home, in Fort Wayne.
 
Mrs. Karst was a resident of Huntington for 81 years before moving to Saint Anne Home in Fort Wayne.  She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntington and was active in church activities including the Rosary Sodality.  She was an avid supporter of Huntington County Right to Life and a member of Widows of Prayer.   She also served as a reading tutor at Huntington Catholic School and volunteered at the Village School for Special Children.  After retirement she spent many winters in Fort Myers, FL, where she volunteered for several charitable organizations.

She was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Huntington to George C. and Mattie Hoover Young. She married Norbert F. Karst on April 26, 1947, in Huntington.   He preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 2003.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda (Larry) Salz, of Tonica, IL; Mary (Wayne) Ristine, of Huntington; Christine (Keith) Denning, of West Chester, OH; and Karen Ehinger-Williams, of Brownsburg; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Recitation of the Rosary will begin Saturday July 9, 2016, at 10:45 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Calling will be Saturday, July 9, 2016, from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016, at noon at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, with Rev. Stephen Colchin presiding.
Burial will be in Mt Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
