Robert D. Williams

Robert D. Williams, 82, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, July 21, 2016, at 12:30 a.m. at his home.

Mr. Williams was a 1952 graduate of Huntington High School. He was the owner of Southside Shell, later known as Southside Marathon, for more than 40 years and received a Half Century Award for longstanding businesses in Huntington. He served eight years in the National Guard and was a member of the South Broadway Church of Christ, in Huntington.

He was born Sept. 30, 1933, in Huntington to Harry and Pauline Steerhoof Williams. He married Carolyn McBay on April 17, 1960, and she survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Perry (Diane) Williams, Tracy Williams and John (Helen) Williams, all of Huntington; a daughter, Charlene Hall, of Huntington; a brother, Jerry (Nancy) Williams, of Huntington; two sisters, Charlotte (Charles) Campbell and Betty Foster, both of Huntington; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Calling is Saturday, July 23, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a service following at 11 a.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Mel Lamphier will officiate. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County.
