Maxine L. Schenkel

Maxine L. Schenkel, 95, of Bluffton, IN, and having ties to Roanoke, IN, died early Wednesday morning, July 27, 2016, at her home.

Mrs. Schenkel graduated from Bluffton High School in 1938 and worked for Farm Bureau Insurance, in Bluffton, for 15 years. She was a former member of Six Mile Church and Bluffton First Church of the Nazarene. She was a long-time member of the Poplar Grove Home Economics Club.

She was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Wells County to Charles S. and Lydia Egley Merkey. She married Dale M. Schenkel on Feb. 24, 1940, in Roanoke; he preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1998.

Survivors include a son, Jerry L, (Tatyana) Schenkel, of Pewaukee, WI; a daughter, Marlene L. (Vaughn) Macon, of Bluffton; five grandchildren, Brenda Schenkel, of Fort Wayne; Tonja (Emil) Pichardo, of Chandler, AZ; Andrea Ragland, of Reading, PA; Melissa (Brad Trollinger) Gooley, of Bluffton; and Greg (Tracie) Schenkel of Holland, MI; a daughter-in-law, Becky Rice of Bluffton;10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, July 29, 2016, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., with Chaplain Chris Thurow officiating. Burial will be at Six Mile Cemetery.
