Max Earl Conner

Max Earl Conner, 77, a resident of Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN, and formerly of Roanoke, IN, died on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at 11:20 p.m. at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Mr. Conner attended Harrison Hill Elementary School and graduated from Central High School. Both in Fort Wayne. After graduation, he joined his father in the operation of Conner Chevrolet Agency in Roanoke, where he worked for 25 years. He had also worked at McJon Photo, Xolox and the Ellison Bakery. He was a member of the College Park United Brethren Church in Huntington and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association Chapter G.

He was born on June 6, 1932, in Fort Wayne to Russell E. and LaVaonne Vogely Conner. He married Arlene Sue Yoder on March 1, 1953. His wife survives.

Also surviving are daughter, Darlene (Phillip) Burkett, of Huntington; and two grandchildren, Jeremy (Jessica) Burkett and Carissa Burkett.

Calling is Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 207 N. Main St., Columbia City. A service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home, with Rev. James Moser officiating. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke, at a later date.
