E. Marcile Martin

E. Marcile Martin, 94, of Decatur, IN, and having family members in Roanoke, IN, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at Adams Woodcrest.

Mrs. Martin was a longtime member of the Decatur United Brethren in Christ Church, where her husband had served as pastor from 1961 to 1984, and was currently a member of Cornerstone Community Church. A 1941 graduate of Decatur High School, she had worked in the office at Decatur Industries for 23 years. She had also worked at the Council on Aging, in Decatur.

She was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Decatur to Frederick and Flona Davidson Christener. She married Rev. Sylvester Martin on Sept. 7, 1941, in Decatur, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2010.

Survivors include a son, Lowell (Judy) Martin, of Decatur; a daughter-in-law, Deb Martin, of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Melanie (Joe) Wolpert, Matt (Dee Ann) Martin, Alyson (Jonathan) Wolf, Arin (Chris) Durbin and Jessah (Jeremy) Porter; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A service was held on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at Cornerstone Community Church, with Rev. Harold Klinker officiating. Interment was at Decatur Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to Hope Chest or Kids First Child Care Ministry.
