Phyllis J. Williams

Phyllis J. Williams, 83, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at 4:40 p.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Mrs. Williams graduated from Columbia City High School in 1951 and Fort Wayne School of Practical Nursing in 1968. She and her husband made their home in Andrews until 1979, then moving to Goblesville until 2010 when they moved to their present home in Huntington.

She worked as a nurse in a doctor’s office in Huntington for over four years and Whitley County Memorial Hospital for over four years. She then did insurance physicals in Whitley and Huntington Counties until her retirement in 1987.

She was a member of Grand Street Baptist Church in Wabash and a former member of Delta Theta Tau.

She was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Whitley County to Arthur D. and Edith M. Kunberger Smith. She married Edward N. Williams on Aug. 4, 1973, and he survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Rick (Linda) Wood, of Columbia City; two daughters, Vicky (Matthew) Snodderly, of Huntington and Brenda (Galen) Stoffel, of Andrews; three stepchildren, Ray (Janna) Williams, of Huntington, Kathy (Van) Juillerat, of Andrews and Jeff (Betty) Williams, of Fort Wayne; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, Dec. 4, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. A funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Blue River Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
