J. "Guilford" Wehr

J. “Guilford” Wehr Sr., 94, of Warren, IN, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at 8:20 p.m. at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

Mr. Wehr was a 1942 graduate of Jefferson Township High School in Huntington County. He was the owner and operator of his family drainage business, Wehr Farm Drainage Inc., which started in 1959. He was a member of the Mt. Etna United Methodist Church. He was a 50-year-plus member of Mt. Etna Masonic Lodge 333, Scottish Rite Valley, Fort Wayne; Mizpah Shrine, Fort Wayne; Huntington County Shrine and Order of Eastern Star of Indiana 65. He was a past 4-H leader, past president of the Indiana Land Improvement Contractor Association and was one of the original founders of the Huntington County Drainage Board, where he served on the board for 25 years. He was also involved with the Huntington County Red Cross.

He was born March 1, 1922, in Clear Creek Township in Huntington County to John C. and Lela Wysong Wehr. He married Doris McIntire on June 23, 1946, in Mt. Etna; she preceded him in death on May 29, 2009.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol (Don) Shull, of Columbia City; a son, J. Guilford Wehr Jr., of Warren; a brother, Joe Wehr, of Muncie; a sister, Louise Smith, of Hawthorne, CA; a grandson, Sam (Christie) Whitton, of Columbia City; two stepgranddaughters, Nicci (Gus) Rosen, of Huntington, and Tabitha (Brett) Suman, of Bluffton; five great-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Debi Johnson, of Warren.

Calling is Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will be Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with calling one hour before the service. Rev. Edwin Clark will officiate. Interment will follow in the Lancaster Cemetery in rural Huntington.
