Daniel W. Scheffer

Daniel W. Scheffer, 57, of Gas City, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, in Avon.

Mr. Scheffer graduated from Southwood High School in 1978 and studied at ITT Tech in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. He served in the United States Army from 1983 to 1987. He was employed in the maintenance department of American Woodmark and was a member of the Wabash American Legion and Moose Lodge.

He was born Sept. 26, 1959, in Wabash County to Charles G. and Ruby Coleen Voight Sheffer. He married Marilyn S. Kling on Oct. 29, 1989, and she survives.

Survivors include three sisters, Carolyn (Rodney) Frantz, of Roann; Sylvia Wagers, of Huntington; and Tina (Mark) Scheffer, of Florida; four brothers, Michael Spencer, of Georgia, and Howard Scheffer, Randy Holloway and Rick Holloway, all of Wabash; four stepchildren; mother-in-law, Sarah Kling, of Marion; four brothers-in-law, Milton Kling, of California; Keith Kling and Charles (Darcy) Kling, both of Marion; and Robert (Judy) Kling, of Kokomo; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Calling is Tuesday. Jan. 10, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Gas City Chapel, 200 N. 7th St., Gas City. A service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at 11:30 a.m., with Rev. Ben Watkins officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be at Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E. 38th St., Marion.
