Larry E. Nave

Larry E. Nave, 76, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at 10:15 a.m. at Vibra Hospital, in Fort Wayne.

Mr. Nave was a railroad engineer for 37 years, working for Erie Railroad, Conrail and Norfolk Southern. He served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Crisis. He attended the Huntington First Church of the Nazarene, was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689 and was a long-time member of the Eel River Tractor Pullers. He spent winters in Mission, TX, where he and his wife were named king and queen of Split Rail Park last year. He was a past president of Split Rail Park.

He was born Dec. 26, 1940, in Huntington to Lloyd and Blanche Fulton Nave. He married Katherine L. Smith on Oct. 23, 1960, and she survives.

dditional survivors include two sons, Timothy (Sherion) Nave and Antony (Caryn) Nave, both of Huntington; a daughter, Penny (Roger) Emley, of Wabash; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Huntington First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Rd., Huntington. A service will be held at the church on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Gene Vickrey will officiate. Private burial will be at Cleveland Township Cemetery, South Whitley.
