Phillip L. Harden

Phillip L. Harden, 81, of Roanoke, IN, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Home.

Mr. Harden graduated from Silver Lake School and Tri-Sate University. He worked at Bowmar Instrument Corporation for 15 years; founded and ran VH Electronics, Harden Industries and Harden Electric; and ran a family farming operation before retiring. He had been a member of Zanesville United Methodist Church since 1973.

He was born Jan. 26, 1935, in South Bend to Phillip and Jennie Harden. He married Velma Juday on Aug. 15, 1954, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Sheryl (Rick) Lee, of Roanoke; two sons, Jim (Terri) Harden, of Roanoke, and Ken (Nancy) Harden, of Murfreesboro, TN; a sister, Doris (Milton) Bloom, of Warsaw; six grandchildren, Matt Wymer, of Indianapolis; Lisa Wymer, of Fort Wayne; Andy (Lisa) Harden, of Georgia; Zane Harden, of Roanoke; Glenn Harden, of Zanesville; and Galen Harden of Virginia; and three great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Zanesville United Methodist Church, in Zanesville. A service will be held at the church on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at 3:30 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Hoverstock Cemetery, in Zanesville.
