Donna Belle Gillam, 86, of Roanoke, IN, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at 11:06 a.m. at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Gillam, a lifelong Roanoke-area resident, attended Roanoke High School. She was employed by Coil Engineering and Economy Machine Products in Roanoke for 20 years, retiring in April 1987. She was a member of the First Brethren Church in Roanoke, a 50-year member of Bethel Rebekah Lodge 382 in Laud and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Roanoke since 1947.

She was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Whitley County to Thomas M. and Bertha B. Geist Swing. She married Gilbert L. "Skip" Gillam in Warsaw in 1950. Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, David A. (Patsy) Graves, of Roanoke; two sisters, Cynthia Young, of Bunker Hill, and Aladean Weaver, of Roanoke; a brother, Dick (Joan) Swing, of South Whitley; two grandchildren, Tom (Mary) Graves and Lisa (Brent) Sunderland, both of Columbia City; and eight great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, March 4, 2010, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 5, 2010, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Kurt Snyder of the First Brethren Church, Roanoke, officiating. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
