Gregory Alan Hedrick, 58, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 10:35 p.m. at his home.
Mr. Hedrick, a lifelong Huntington resident, graduated from Huntington North High School in 1969 and the police academy in 1975. He was a captain with the Huntington Police Department and had served as a police officer for more than 34 years. He was the owner of Hedrick's Eagle Excavating and co-owner of Caribbean Corner. He also coached baseball at the Huntington PAL Club.
He was born March 7, 1951, in Huntington to Jim and Pat Cross Hedrick. His parents survive in Huntington. He married Margie Purviance on Nov. 21, 1971; they later divorced and she survives in Huntington. He married Donna L. Stoffel on Dec. 29, 2007; his wife survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Amy (Luke) Moreland and Abby Hedrick, both of Huntington; two stepsons, Jeremiah (Danielle) Stoffel, of Huntington, and Jaryd Stoffel, at home; a stepdaughter, Heather (Joe) McFarren, of Roanoke; a sister, Pam (David) Thrift, of Huntington; three grandchildren, Logan Moreland, Landon Moreland and Audrey Moreland, all of Huntington; four stepgrandchildren, Isaak Stoffel, Garrett Stoffel, Sydney McFarren and Sarah McFarren; and a brother-in-law, Mike Fisher, of Huntington.
Calling is Tuesday, March 9, 2010, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Huntington PAL Club, 2099 Riverside Dr., Huntington. A service will be held at the PAL Club on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Gerald Moreland officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Etna Cemetery.
