Betty L. Haynes, 63, of Avilla, IN, and having family members in Roanoke, IN, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 12:03 a.m. at Parkview Noble Community Hospital, Kendallville.

Mrs. Haynes and her husband had owned and operated BJ's Small Engine Repair in Avilla for several years. She had also worked at Electric Motors in Garrett, LaOtto Manufacturing and Hays Tap in Avilla. She graduated from Avilla High School in 1964 and was a member of the Avilla American Legion Post 240 Auxiliary.

She was born April 11, 1946, in Fort Wayne to Herman and Mildred Isenbarger Krock. She married William J. "Bill" Haynes on April 3, 1970, in Kendallville. Her husband survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Tyler (Kim) Haynes, of Avilla, and Troy (Michelle) Haynes, of Kendallville; three brothers, James Krock Sr. and William "Bill" (Marilyn) Krock Sr., both of Avilla, and Robert (Bev) Krock Sr., of Kendallville; a sister, Sandy (Tom) Lash, of Wolcottville; and four grandchildren, Hilary Didier, of Roanoke; Nathan Haynes, of Avilla; and Abby Haynes and Collin Haynes, both of Kendallville.

Calling is Tuesday, March 9, 2010, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brazzell Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N. Main St., Avilla. A service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Larry R. Williams will officiate. Burial will be at the Avilla Cemetery in Avilla.
