Robert 'Bob' Dimond

Robert 'Bob' Dimond, 93, of Indianapolis, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died April 6, 2017, at his home.

Mr. Dimond graduated from Huntington High School and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, working on the development and implementation of radar in a classified capacity. In 1951 he graduated from Purdue University with a degree in mechanical engineering and founded R.E. Dimond and Associates in 1977. He was a member of the Indiana and the national society of professional engineers, ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers and other professional organizations.

He was an active member of St. Luke Catholic Church since 1969 and was an usher for the past 32 years.

He was born, Nov. 16, 1923, to Harry and Esther Dimond in Huntington. He married Doris Stoffel in 1950, and she survives.

Additional survivors include three daughters, Julie (Greg) Apple, Ann (Justin) Wrenne and Laura  (Pat) Kelley; a son, Daniel (Lynn) Dimond; and six grandchildren, Adrienne Apple, Grace Kelly, Quinn Kelley,  Patrick Dimond, Will Dimond and Lucy Dimond.

Calling is Sunday, April 9, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Leppert Mortuary, 740 E. 86th St., Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Drive East, Indianapolis, on Monday, April 10,  2017, at 11:30 a.m.

Memorials are to Little Sisters of the Poor or the St. Vincent de Paul food bank.
