Jackie Bowers

Jackie Bowers, 78, of Markle, IN, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at 11:54 p.m. at his residence.

Mr. Bowers attended Huntington Township High School. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 at Fort Leonardwood, MO. He worked as a foundry worker with Maco Corporation (General Aluminum) from 1956 to 2007.

He was born March 6, 1932, in Huntington to Hayden Sr. and Clara Parrett Bowers.He was married to Alice R. Raber on May 21, 1952 in Louisville, KY. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include four sons, Tim Bowers, of Markle; David (Barb) Bowers of Roanoke; and Jackie Bowers Jr. and Scott (Wendy) Bowers, both of Huntington; two daughters, May (Steve) Rodgers and Melissa (Kevin) Pitman, both of Huntington; five brothers, Richard Bowers, Norm Bowers, Larry Bowers, Gary Bowers and Donnie Bowers, all of Huntington; three sisters, Evelyn Raber, Velene Gibler and Roxanne Shumate; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Calling is Wednesday, March 17, 2010, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A service will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County.
