Retha E. "Eloise" Gable, 83, of Leesburg, and a former employee of a Huntington factory, died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 4:05 p.m. at Peabody Health Care, North Manchester.

Mrs. Gable graduated from South Whitley High School and lived in South Whitley most of her life. She moved to Irish Lake in 1984. She retired in 1994 from Gripco Fasteners, South Whitley, as a traffic manager after 23 years of service. She had previously been employed at Lincoln Life in Fort Wayne and Wabash Magnetics in Huntington. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in North Webster.

She was born May 10, 1926, in South Whitley to Vesterman A. and Willodean Miller Reed. She married Carroll E. Gable on June 29, 1946, in South Whitley. Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Dennis) Ducey, of Warsaw; a son, Bruce (Dora) Gable, of South Whitley; a sister, Mary (Gene) Mann, of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren, David Gable, of Fort Wayne, and Ashkea (Michael) Semone, of Noblesville; and a great-grandson.

A service was held March 16, 2010, at the Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Rev. David Smitley of the North Webster United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be at the South Whitley Cemetery.
