Arnold S. Hewitt

Arnold Sammie Hewitt, 77, of Wabash, IN, and having family members in Andrews, IN, died Monday, May 8, 2017, at 4:15 a.m. at his home.

Mr. Hewitt served in the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked in maintenance for White’s Institute and was a member of the Wabash Chapel Church of God.

He was born Jan. 4, 1940, in Tipton County to Gerald and Dollie M. Willey Hewitt. He married Inez Pickering on Aug. 4, 1982, in Peru, and she preceded him in death on June 5, 2013.

Survivors include a son, Terry L. (Karen) Hewitt, of North Manchester; a daughter, Whitney (Doug) Bolton, of Wabash; a stepson, Brad A. Webb, of Angola; two stepdaughters, Beth Ann Ridenour, of Andrews, and Melissa L. (Mike) Orpurt, of Wabash; two brothers, Lee (Judy) Hewitt and Miles (Sue) Hewitt, both of Peru; a sister, Charlene I. Bratcher, of Arizona; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

A service will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash. Rev. Ralph Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.
