Lenore I. Lahr

Lenore Irene Lahr, 96, of Roanoke, IN, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at 10:25 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Lahr graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1939. She worked at Huntington Memorial Hospital for 30 years as a nurse aid and was the first female bus driver in Huntington County, driving for 30 years. She was a homemaker and farmer, still driving the tractor and working ground at age 90.

She was a member of Northview Church of Christ and belonged to Kil So Quah Homemakers Club for 50 years.

She was born Feb. 2, 1921, in Roanoke to Guy and Thelma Bowman Brindle. She married Simon Dale Lahr on Jan. 1, 1940, in Roanoke. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1983.
                                        
Survivors include two daughters, LaDona Irene Lahr and Linda (Michael) Putman, both of Roanoke; a son, Larry (Regeanna) Lahr, of Roanoke; two daughters-in-law, Marilyn Lahr and Beth Lahr, both of Roanoke; a sister, Mary (Paul) Young, of Ossian; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and eight stepgreat grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, June 30, 2017, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the mortuary, with calling one hour prior to the service. Doug Shaw will officiate. Those unable to attend may view the service on the Bailey-Love Mortuary channel at www.livestream.com. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington County.
