Harold R. Ladd

Harold R. Ladd, 86, of Ossian, IN, and having ties to Zanesville, IN, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at Adams Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Ladd was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. A former resident of Willshire, OH, he was a self-employed barber in Willshire for 10 years until selling the business and joining his wife in the operation of the Village Restaurant in Willshire for 15 years. After selling the restaurant, they moved to Fort Wayne and Mr. Ladd worked as a maintenance man for Embassy Apartments.

He attended Zanesville United Brethren Church. He was a lifetime member of Delphos Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 and American Legion Post 268. He had served as District 2 commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Delphos, OH, to Melvin and Loa Matson Ladd. He married Marcia M. Stopher on June 19, 1966, in Delphos, OH, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Carla (Wally) Mesing, of Decatur; a brother, Gerald (Shirley) Ladd, of Landeck, OH; and two grandsons, Mark Mesing and Paul (Sara Williamson) Mesing.

Calling is Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, in Decatur. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at 2 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Tom Datema will officiate. Interment will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery, in Delphos, OH.
