William I. Howell

William Isaac Howell, 98, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at 3:27 p.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Mr. Howell graduated from Huntington High School in 1938. He owned and operated a restaurant and ice cream parlor in Bippus from 1939 to 1942. He retired from Fisher Body (General Motors), in Marion, after a career as a tool and die specialist and Keller operator that spanned more than 24 years.

He was born Jan. 16, 1919, in Huntington to Roy and Ruth Scott Howell. He married Margaret “Peg” Ehler Wiley on Sept. 7, 1946, at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Huntington, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Anne Howell, of Huntington; a son, Michael (Joanne) Howell, of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren, Chris (Nichole) Howell, of Oldsmar, FL, and Allison (Mike) Rorick, of Fort Wayne; and a great-grandson.

Calling is Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7:30 p.m., at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, in Huntington. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to Mass, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
