Robert J. Barnett

Robert Jack Barnett, 96, of Murrells Inlet, SC, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at Hope Arbor Assisted Living Home.

Mr. Barnett was a retired officer with the Huntington Police Department, having served his community for 28 years. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

He was born April 23, 1921, to James Leonard and Florence Marie Maddox Barnett. He married Jean Roush, who preceded him in death. Survivors include three daughters, Sandra (Bruce) Pressler, of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Becky (Joe) Underwood and Karen (Jim) Bir, both of Huntington; a son, James L. Barnett, of Tempe, AZ; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and his long-time companion, Louise Walter, of Huntington.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at noon, with calling two hours prior to the service, at Bailey-Love Funeral Home, Huntington. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
