Junior M. 'Scrappy' Forbes

Junior Maxwell "Scrappy" Forbes, 85, of rural Wabash, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 3:10 p.m. at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center, LaFontaine.

Mr. Forbes had worked as a maintenance foreman for Wagner Industries until his retirement in 1986. He had also been a contractor with the family business, Macey, Forbes and Sons. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 286 in Wabash and a former member of the Izaak Walton League.

He was born June 1, 1924, in Wabash to Henry M. and Myrtle M. "Marie" Bloxson Forbes. He married Doris B. Carpenter on June 1, 1947, at Silver Creek Church in Wabash. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Wayne A. Forbes, of Jefferson, TX, and Thomas J. Forbes, of Yoder; two daughters, Eileen K. (Roger) Biehl and Brenda "Bea" (Joseph) Oswalt, both of Wabash; nine grandchildren, Jada Biehl, Tim Forbes and Andrew (Amy) Oswalt, all of Wabash; Scott (Kim) Jagger, of Huntington; Jennifer Becker and David (Heidi) Forbes, both of Fort Wayne; Amanda (Jason) Randel, of Roann; Leif Cox, of Warsaw; and Harley Forbes, of Texas; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Calling is Tuesday, April 6, 2010, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash. A service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Rick Stone officiating. Burial will be at Falls Cemetery, Wabash.
