Ruth E. Benefiel

Ruth E. Benefiel, 92, of Warren, IN, and formerly of Van Buren, IN, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at 7:30 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.

Mrs. Benefiel was a 1943 graduate of Van Buren High School. She spent most of her life being a farm wife. She was a member of the Van Buren United Methodist Church and the Van Buren United Methodist Women.
 
She was born June 21, 1925, in Van Buren to Herald I. and Mary Elizabeth Sanderman Plummer.  She married James Artie Benefiel on July 1, 1944, in Van Buren, and he survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Glen (Rita) Benefiel, of Warren; John (Connie) Benefiel, of Sun City, AZ; and Howard E. Benefiel, of Bluffton; a daughter, Carol Secttor, of Marion; three sisters-in-law, Martha Plummer, of Warren; Glenna Plummer, of Bluffton; and Mary Newland, of Anderson; five grandchildren, Tony (Donna) Benefiel, of Warren; John (Hope) Benefiel, of Sun City, AZ; Tracie Benefiel, of Lake Harvasee, AZ; and Michele (Noel) McDonald and Lora (Ron) Clarke, both of Hartford City; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
 
Calling is Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel, 801 Huntington Ave., Warren. A service will be held Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the chapel, with viewing to be held one hour prior. Gerald Moreland will officiate. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory in rural Marion.
