James L. Hoy

James L. Hoy, 84, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at 10:58 p.m. at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Hoy graduated from Linlawn High School in 1951 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a truck driver for 40 years, retiring from D.R. Lubricants. He drove truck for G.E. for 10 years and was an owner/operator for 12 years. He attended The Chapel in Fort Wayne, and was a member of the Ageless Iron Tractor Club, NRA, Teamsters Union 414, F & AM 195, Roanoke Lodge, and Roanoke American Legion Post 160.  

He was born on June 27, 1933, on a farm in Roann to Jerry C. Hoy and Lovah Lavengood Hoy. He married Marylin M. Carpenter on Sept. 21, 1957, at Silver Creek Christian Church in Wabash County. She survives.  

Additional survivors include a son, James Bryan (Cari) Hoy, of Roanoke; two daughters, Marcia M. Hoy, of Strasburg, CO and Tracy Hoy, of Roanoke; a sister, Mary Evans, of Arkansas; three grandchildren, Kortney Hum, James Cameron (Jess) Hoy and Leigh Ann (Craig) Bauer; and three great-grandsons.

Calling will be Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Chapel, 2505 W. Hamilton Rd. South, Fort Wayne. A Masonic service performed by Roanoke Lodge 195 will follow at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the church with an hour of calling prior to the service. Rev. Rick Hawks will officiate. . Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Roanoke with military graveside rites performed by American Legion Post 160.
