Thomas H. 'Tom' Wolfe

Thomas H. “Tom”  Wolfe, 73, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday Jan. 7, 2018, at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, IN.

Mr. Wolfe’s formative years were spent on a farm in the Larwill area. He graduated from Larwill High School in 1962. On May 29, 1962, he entered the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam.  He was honorably discharged May 28, 1968.

He owned and operated Huntington Aviation Airport for 14 years, was a pilot for Triad Utrad and Shuttleworth and was an instructor at Flight Safety. A 32nd degree Mason, he was also a member of the Flying Shriners.

He and his wife moved to Huntington from Wabash in 1970.

He was born Sept. 2, 1944, in Columbia City to Harry Jr. and Doris Bennett Wolfe. His mother survives in Huntington. He married Linda K. Hall on Feb. 3, 1967, and she also survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Jeff (Misty) Wolfe, of Jasper, and James (Heather) Wolfe, of Fort Wayne; a brother, Kurt (Karen) Wolfe, of Columbia City; and four grandchildren, Evan Wolfe, Samantha Wolfe, Ben Wolfe and Jack Wolfe.

Calling is Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 7 pm. at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 207 N. Main St., Columbia City. A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Military honors will be presented by Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard. The burial will be in Thorn Cemetery, Ormas.

Preferred memorials are to Make-a-Wish Foundation or Riley Children’s Hospital.
