A. Wendell Hamilton

A. Wendell Hamilton, 94, of Poneto, IN, and having family in Warren, IN, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at 3:35 p.m. at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

Mr. Hamilton was a lifelong resident of Wells County and a 1941 graduate from Chester Center High School. He farmed, worked for the Indiana Highway Department and for Franklin Electric in Bluffton for 27 years, retiring from the latter in 1986. After retirement he worked as a turnkey jailer for four years at the Wells County Jail. He also was a driver for Ernest E.T. Schwartz Amish crew for 10 years. He was a member of the Liberty Center Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
 
He was born Wednesday, May 30, 1923, in Wells County to Otto S. and Marie Brown Hamilton. He married Lois B. Thompson on Sept. 21, 1957, at the Liberty Center Baptist Church; and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Garrett W. Hamilton, of Montpelier, and Lynn K. Hamilton, of Poneto; two daughters Jill M. (Larry) Clontz, of Bluffton, and Marilyn S. (Bill) Bradford, of Warren; eight grandchildren, Luke (Nikki) Hamilton, Erin Hamilton, Clayton Hamilton, Gabby Clontz, Chris Clontz, Lydia (Brad Brooks) Bradford, Hayley Bradford and Shelby Bradford; and two great-grandchildren.
 
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Heritage Pointe-Applegate Chapel, 801 Huntington Ave., Warren, with Gerald Moreland officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.
