Russell R. Diehl

Russell R. Diehl, 89, of Bluffton, IN, died Monday afternoon, March 5, 2018, at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton.

Mr. Diehl was a 1947 graduate of Lancaster High School and a member of Murray Missionary Church.  He retired after 27 years of service from International Harvester in Fort Wayne.  He and his wife volunteered for many years for the World Gospel Mission.  They both also volunteered with Mercy Ships, and for over seven years, he also volunteered for Family LifeCare of Berne.  

He was born in Markle on Jan. 12, 1929, to Lawrence and Goldie Graham Diehl. He married Elizabeth A. Johnloz at the Murray Church on June 5, 1949, and she survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Jerry (Julie) Diehl and John (Kristin) Diehl, both of Fort Wayne, and Brian (Deb) Diehl of Bluffton; six grandchildren; one stepgrandson; and five great-grandchildren.  

Calling is today, Thursday, March 8, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Goodwin–Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, 3220 E-Ind.124 in Bluffton.  A funeral service will be held Friday, March 9, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., at the Murray Missionary Church, 1117 N. Washington St., Bluffton, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Rev. Mike Gilbert will officiate.  Burial will be at Prospect Cemetery at a later date.
