Robert C. Coffield

Robert G. Coffield, 86, a lifetime resident of Montpelier, IN, and having relatives in Huntington, IN, died Friday, March 16, 2018, at 2:20 p.m. at Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN, from melanoma.

Mr. Coffield and his wife attend the First Baptist Church in Montpelier. He was a former sales representative for Greif Brothers in Albany, from where he retired in 1996.  He also worked for Indiana Box in Montpelier and Indiana Corrugated in Warren. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Millard-Brown American Legion Post 156; where he served as past commander, the 40-8, Voiture 988 and Montpelier Pony and Saddle Club. He was a 38-year member of the Montpelier Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as past assistant chief. He had been associated with the Walker & Glancy Funeral Home since the 1950s.
 
He was born Saturday, Sept. 26, 1931, in Montpelier, to Ralph W. and Mary E. Bedwell Coffield. He married Janet L. Layman on Nov. 17, 1951, in Montpelier.

Additional survivors include a son, James (Kristi Eppard) Coffield, of Montpelier; three brothers,  Max Coffield, of Bluffton; Jay Coffield, of Huntington; and Johnny Roberts, of Warsaw; and a sister, Mary Kay (Roger) Strine, of Hartford City.

Calling is Tuesday, March 20, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St. Montpelier. A service to celebrate his life will be Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Jeremy Cowan officiating.  Interment will follow in the Gardens of Memory in Marion.
