Mary H. Saluke

Mary Helen Saluke, 92, of Dayton OH, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died May 15, 2018, after a short illness.

Mrs. Saluke graduated from Huntington Catholic High School and in 1946 from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Fort Wayne. She was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. She and her husband moved to Dayton, OH, in 1957.

She was an active member at St Mary Catholic Church, Dayton, where she served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, member of the Bereavement Committee and volunteer with the St. Mary St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. Over the years, she worked with the Southeast Priority Board, Calvary Cemetery Board and participated in numerous other community and church activities.
She retired from nursing at Miami Valley Hospital in 1990. She participated in the St. Anthony Pinochle League for more than 40 years.

She was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Huntington to Joseph and Anna McNulty Karst. She married William Saluke, also of Huntington, in September 1948, and he survives.

Additional survivors include six sons, Bill (Marian Woeste) Saluke, John Saluke, Jim (Barb Kemna) Saluke, Mike (Julie Gay) Saluke, Joe (Julie Stemley) Saluke and Pat (Deb Malone) Saluke; four daughters, Dr. Ann (Don Yelton) Saluke, Helen Saluke, Dr. Julia Saluke and Dr. Rose (Jack) Ebel; a brother, Phil (Jackie Fox) Karst, in-laws Carolyn and David Ruppert; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, May 18, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave., Dayton OH. A Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet will be said at 8 p.m. There will be an additional visitation at St. Mary Catholic Church, 310 Allen St., Dayton on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 9 a.m. immediately preceding a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Ave., Dayton.
