O. Neil Snyder

O. Neil Snyder, 76, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, June 2, 2018, at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis.

Mr. Snyder was a 1960 graduate of West Rockcreek High School. He had worked at International Harvester in Fort Wayne for 22 years and retired upon their closing and then worked for 16 years at GM in Anderson, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the UAW 663 in Anderson. He also farmed for more than 40 years in Huntington and Allen counties. He was a member of Markle Church of Christ and was an active member of the Joy Class.

He was an inductee into the Huntington County Sports Hall of Fame in 1985. He played semi-pro baseball for the Kokomo Highlanders. He coached baseball for many years in Markle.

He was born May 12, 1942, in Bluffton to Robert D. and Alvada H. Martin Snyder. He was married to Carol J. Hosler on June 30, 1961, in Markle. She preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 2013.

Survivors include a son, Lonnie (Lisa) Snyder, of Huntington; two daughters, Wendy (Doug) Gower, of Huntington and Jill (Brian) Conn, of Auburn; two brothers, Joe Snyder, of Anderson, and Kevin Snyder, of Fort Wayne; and seven grandchildren, Brittany Gower, Brandi Gower, Brock Gower, Chelsi Snyder, Carly Snyder, Andrew Conn and Kaylee Conn.

Calling is Thursday, June 7, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home-Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 8, 2018, at 11 a.m., with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the funeral home, with Aaron McClary officiating. Interment will be at the Hoverstock Cemetery in Zanesville.
