Patricia J. 'Pat' Runkel

Patricia Jane “Pat” Runkel, 74, of Andrews, IN, died Friday, June 8, 2018, at 9:45 a.m. at her granddaughter’s home.

Mrs. Runkel was raised on a farm outside Bryant in Jay County. She graduated from Bryant High School in 1962. She was a homemaker and worked at The Shirt Shed in Wabash. She was a member of Banquo Christian Church, member of a quilting club and also gave presentations and taught children about Indian life at the Historic Forks of the Wabash and Mississinewa 1812.

She was born May 31, 1944, in Portland to Ernest and Opal Roberts Murphy. She married George Edward Runkel on Feb. 22, 1963, in Jay County. Her husband survives her.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Kim Runkel and Jackie (Mitch) Hobbs, both of Huntington; a son, Patrick (Melanie) Runkel, of Bluffton; a sister, Barb (Jerry) Kiepher, of Muncie; a brother, Randy (Dianne) Murphy, of Portland; two sisters-in-law, Sue Murphy, of Portland, and Beulah Murphy, of Bluffton; eight grandchildren, Kristie (Eric) McEntyre, Josh Donald, Kandi (Josh) Hale-Roseberry, Tom (Nakia) Hobbs, Chayton Foster, Dakota Foster, Levi Runkel and Jacob Runkel; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Samantha Foster.

Calling is Monday, June 11, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a funeral service following immediately after at 6 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington. Rev. Harold Smith will officiate.
