Mary E. Shuttleworth

Mary Elizabeth Shuttleworth, 94, of Warren, died Dec. 11, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Heritage Pointe, Warren.

Mrs. Shuttleworth was a 1932 graduate of Pennville High School and a 1938 graduate of Ball State Nursing School. She was a homemaker and had worked as a registered nurse at Jay County Hospital in Portland from 1947 to 1950, at Caylor-Nickel Hospital in Bluffton from 1950 to 1964 and at the Marion VA Hospital in Marion from 1964 to 1973. She retired from the Bay Pines VA Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL, in 1982. She attended Fellowship Wesleyan Church in Spring Hill, FL.

She was born Oct. 17, 1914, in Jay County to Orlando Madison and Lulu Mae Regester Sillivan. She married James A. Shuttleworth on Nov. 5, 1938, in Ridgeville. Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Michael Shuttleworth, of Hazelwood, MO, and Howard Patrick Shuttleworth, of Warren; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Calling was Dec. 15, 2008, at the Heritage Pointe Chapel, Warren. A funeral service was held in the chapel on Dec. 16, 2008, Rev. Kathy Newton officiating.

Preferred memorials are gifts to the charity of the donor's choice.
