Harold C. Riggle

Harold C. Riggle, 91, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at 3:20 a.m. at Tipton Place in Huntington.

Mr. Riggle graduated from Huntington High School in 1945 and served in the United States Merchant Marines after the ending of World War II. After attending Huntington College, he served in the United States Navy during the Korean War for four years. He was elected 5th District Huntington City Councilman in 1967. He retired from the Vectren utilities company in 1990 after 40 years of service.

He was a member of Faith Community Church of God in Huntington, where he was an usher for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post 85 in Huntington. He was a life member of the East State Street Church of God bowling team.

He was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Huntington to Herbert A. and Winifred Avery Riggle. He married Emma C. Reed on Feb. 16, 1947, in Huntington, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Roxanne R. (Ken) McArthur, of Richboro, PA, and Beverly J. (Randy) Crook, of Arcadia; two sons, Tom C. (Tina) Riggle, of Huntington, and Mark A. (Linda) Riggle, of Carmel; a sister, Jean Griffith, of Huntington; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, James T. Crook.

Calling is Sunday, July 8, 2018, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 9, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Faith Community Church of God, 3615 N. Norwood Rd., Huntington, with Rev. Steve Stull officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington, with military graveside rites performed by VFW Post 2689 of Huntington.
